Preteen Vaccine Week

Preteen Vaccine Week (PVW) is an annual California observance to be held March 4–8 in 2024.  The goals of PVW are to distribute information and materials through multiple avenues such as schools, providers, and the media to promote the preteen doctor visit and to raise awareness about routinely recommended immunizations for preteens: Tdap, HPV, meningococcal, and flu vaccines. Preteens starting 7th grade must show proof of one dose of Tdap and 2 doses of chickenpox vaccine. 

PVW is the rallying point for families, providers, coalitions supporting children’s health, and local health departments to get the message out about preventative health care and immunizations for over 1 million 11- and 12-year-old boys and girls living in California.
